Salary Range: $1,478.60 – $1,892.29 Per Week*

If so, consider this great opportunity where you will lead and coordinate the administration of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) loan portfolio, perform financial reviews of project evaluations and assist in the development, implementation and management of a viable controllership and fiscal management structure for the loan portfolio and the financial management system.
What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
- Lead and coordinate the administration of the NOHFC loan portfolio
- Provide group leadership, technical guidance and financial expertise to NOHFC financial officers and program staff and assist in the development, implementation and management of a viable controllership and fiscal management structure for the loan portfolio and the financial management system, including oversight of external service providers
- Perform financial reviews of NOHFC project evaluations
- Contribute to the development of NOHFC financial management policies/procedures
- Research financial controls and reporting procedures as they relate to the administration of the loan portfolio
- Assess the efficiency of current procedures, identify potential problems and make recommendations for improvements and/or enhancements
- Provide financial status reports and identifying issues with recommendations related to loan contract administration, including appropriate follow up on delinquent accounts
- Provide support to the ongoing operation of the financial information system
- Prepare assessments of provisions for credit losses for the loan portfolio and analysis and reports related to the performance of the loan portfolios
How do I qualify?
Financial management knowledge:
- You have demonstrated knowledge of general accounting and financial management principles, techniques, and practices, including Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Canada Handbook, risk assessment, controllership principles and reporting standards.
- You have knowledge of and experience applying and interpreting legislation as it relates to financial accounting and reporting requirements for the effective management of loans, repayments, potential delinquencies and bankruptcies, and business planning requirements.
- You demonstrate the ability to apply and interpret policies and procedures as they relate to the establishment of provisions for credit losses for a loan portfolio.
- You have extensive practical knowledge in financial planning and forecasting.
Business analysis knowledge:
- You demonstrate knowledge of business management practices and principles with particular emphasis in the area of commercial lending.
- You have extensive practical knowledge in financial analysis.
- You have demonstrated working knowledge of credit management, loans, bankruptcy and creditor protection legislation.
- You have working knowledge of legal principles associated with contract development and terminology to monitor compliance with agreements.
Communication, consultation, and interpersonal skills:
- You have well developed communication and presentation skills to provide clear, concise and accurate information, and sound advice to management, clients and staff.
- You have excellent written communication skills to prepare briefing notes, policies and procedures, minister’s response letters, memoranda for board or board committees and senior management, and to prepare reports and analysis.
- You demonstrate excellent interpersonal, political acuity and consultation skills to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills:
- You have evaluative and analytical skills to perform complex financial analysis and review of loan portfolio performance as well as develop and recommend improvements related to administration of the loan portfolio.
- You demonstrate analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills to analyze information and develop guidelines and policies; develop courses of action, recommendations and prepare reports related to loans in default and assess the financial impacts of current borrowing on new project applications for funding.
Project planning and organizational skills:
- You demonstrate leadership and project management skills to lead the loan portfolio program, and to provide expert advice, guidance and support to clients, management and program staff.
- You have excellent organizational and time management skills to plan and prioritize and meet set deadlines.
Computer skills:
- You have knowledge and experience with computers and financial information systems and software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Dynamics, and specialized financial systems.
