What can I expect to do in this role?
As a member of a team that strives for excellence in service delivery, you will:
- Support the section management team with all aspects of hiring, scheduling, and maintaining and following up on action items.
- Keep organized section information management including oversight of approval packages, briefing material, and correspondence.
- Help with budget reviews and ensure financial accuracy.
- Provide support and guidance to the admin team and handle general inquiries
How do I qualify?
Knowledge of Government Rules
You can:
- Learn and apply knowledge of important laws, policies, and directives (e.g., Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy, human resource directives and guidelines, purchasing procedures)
- Maintain confidentiality of information and security of records
Computer Skills
You can:
- Use different computer systems and database software
- Ensure digital accessibility of documents prior to submitting for manager approval
- Create correspondence and memos on behalf of management
- Create and edit financial reports
Record Keeping
You can:
- Manage paper and electronic records including tracking documents that require approval by the manager and executives
- Keep records organized and up-to-date
- Follow rules for keeping and disposing of records
- Keep private information safe
Problem-Solving Skills
You can:
- Consider what needs to be done first
- Check for accuracy and resolve problems found in correspondence, briefing notes, briefing decks, and spreadsheets.
- Solve payroll and benefits issues
- Maintain action items and track deadlines and follow up as appropriate to ensure priority items for the section are addressed
Communication Skills
You can:
- Speak clearly to give advice to management, explain administrative processes to a variety of audiences, and provide administrative direction to colleagues
- Write clearly to prepare material on behalf of management
