QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Must have minimum 1-year Mechanical Techniques Certificate or 2-year diploma in a Mechanical Trade from a recognized community college (preferences will be given to those with a 2-year diploma).
- Successful completion of an entrance aptitude test.
- Successful completion of a practical test
- Must be willing to participate in an apprenticeship program registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities in the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) 433A trade. This includes following the roles and responsibilities outlined by the Ministry of Training.
- Must attend and successfully complete 3 levels of in-school training when and as designated by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities and approved by the Company.
- Team player with excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Self-starter and able to work effectively with minimal direction.
- Good analytical and problem solving/decision making abilities.
- Commitment to healthy and safe work practices and sustainable environmental practices.
- Must not be afraid of heights
Applicants must provide up to date resume and proof of education, i.e. diploma and transcripts with application.
Successful candidates will progress to the above tradesperson’s level to maintain, repair and monitor Mechanical equipment throughout the Steelworks.
Graduation will require successful completion of intensive academic block intakes at Sault College or other training facilities and comprehensive In-Field Training in various areas of Algoma Steel Inc
