Salary Range: $102,957.40 – $123,960.20

Reporting to the Director of Health Protection, the Manager provides public health leadership to the Immunization Program team. Working collaboratively with the Leadership team, staff and community partners to achieve the public health goals, the Manager is accountable for the implementation of Immunization Program and Services that meet the requirements of the Ontario Public Health Standards, the Accountability Framework, Algoma Public Health’s strategic plan, policies and procedures, and relevant legislation such as the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
The Manager supports the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programs and services within the Immunization Program portfolio and other areas as relevant.
Qualifications, Ability, Experience, and Skills for this position include but are not limited to:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (preferred), Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, Public Administration, or relevant field.
- Masters of Public Health, Masters of Nursing, or relevant field, or working toward a Masters would be an asset.
- Proven leadership experience in managing and supervising staff with the ability to effectively lead teams and foster collaboration.
- Leadership ability to manage performance issues, including addressing absenteeism to ensure proper staffing levels to maintain a high standard of care and operational efficiency.
- Knowledge and application of Public Health Legislation, Standards and Protocols.
- Knowledge and application of evidence based public health practice and decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, communicate, implement, and evaluate program related work to ensure successful delivery of services.
- Proven ability to be a team player while leading and providing guidance and consultation for front line employees.
- Knowledge of human resource functions including working in a unionized environment.
- Good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all applicable codes and laws pertaining to health and safety in Ontario.
- Knowledge and ability to participate in budget development and implementation.
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive matters.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire and maintain credibility.
- Demonstrated commitment to professionalism and ensuring a high level of integrity.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude toward position, clients, service providers and personnel of APH.
- Proven ability in demonstrating critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning skills in order to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Ability to work collaboratively, both internally and externally.
- Advanced knowledge in computer skills as it pertains to systems required for this position.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Advanced oral and written proficiency in English is essential, proficiency in both official languages considered an asset.
- Participate in the rotating health unit management on‐call schedule and respond appropriately.
- A valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License and access to an insured working vehicle.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and travel to meet program needs.
- As a condition of hire, you are required to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine series, per our COVID-19 Immunization policy. The successful candidate will be required to comply with our COVID-19 Immunization policy that is in effect.
- Compliance with APH’s agency policies and relevant program policies and applicable legislation.
- A current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with satisfactory clearance is a condition of employment, at own expense.
