What can I expect to do in this role?
Working as the divisional representative for the Regional Operations Division, responsible for leading the delivery of resource management advice and divisional coordination/implementation, this position will:
- Lead and/or participates in projects and new initiatives
- Analyze needs against regional and divisional priorities and develop solutions
- Lead or coordinate the development of Indigenous strategic and operational plans for implementation; perform environmental scans and drafts strategic plans
- Provide operational leadership, guidance and advice through consultation, negotiations and conflict resolution
- Develop Indigenous training materials and delivers training to Ministry management and staff, staff in other ministries and agencies, and stakeholders
How do I qualify?
Program and Project Management
- You have project planning and management experience to lead and manage multiple, medium- to large-sized projects within budget and timelines
- You have leadership skills to lead and direct the work of staff assigned to projects and other initiatives and to chair/lead working groups and task teams
Interpersonal and Consultation
- You have interpersonal and negotiation skills to gain support and commitment for projects or a specific course of action
- You have interpersonal, team work and influencing skills to work with staff in the division and other divisions to ensure ongoing positive collaboration
- You have proven ability to work with diverse groups, including the general public, to converse effectively with a variety of contacts, stimulate discussions and provide advice on Indigenous issues
Communication
- You can prepare a range of written materials such as briefings and policy proposals
- You are able to prepare presentations and brief management
Analytical and Problem-Solving
- You can research, evaluate and address needs, issues and concerns of the public and ministry partners
- You have strategic thinking to identify and assess gaps and opportunities for business/ process improvement
Knowledge
You have knowledge of:
- Indigenous studies, treaties and agreements to lead, facilitate and/or provide advice related to Indigenous affairs within the Division
