The Opportunity:
The Director, Communications and Stakeholder Relations provides leadership to the College’s communications and stakeholder relations. The incumbent develops corporate and community partnerships, media, and public and government relations strategies. They will hold overall responsibility for the planning, development and implementation of media, advocacy, special community events and other creative opportunities to advance the College’s direction and support the strategic plan. The Director provides strategic advice to the President.
What you need to be successful:
- A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or a related degree
- Master’s degree considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in progressive communications leadership and management roles
- Strong background in strategic communications planning, media relations, and stakeholder engagement
- Excellent team building, interpersonal, communications, decision-making, time-management and planning skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including high-quality document writing and ability to liaise effectively with a variety of internal/external contacts at all levels
- Proficiency in social media technologies and social listening tools, strong knowledge of a variety of software, including MS Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Teams
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations
- Experience public speaking and preparing executive speeches
- Ability to lead teams and manage resources effectively
- Understanding of the College system
Sault College provides an attractive total compensation package, encompassing competitive wages/salaries, a defined benefit pension plan, group insurance benefits, and a variety of employee perks. This is a full-time administrative position. Salary range is a payband 13 and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
