Job Summary:
We are seeking a responsible and experienced In-House Bookkeeper to oversee Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), general ledger entries, and handle payroll, bank deposits and errands. The ideal candidate is organized, trustworthy, and able to manage multiple financial tasks with precision and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Process and manage Accounts Payable: enter bills, issue payments, track due dates
- Manage Accounts Receivable: issue invoices, follow up on outstanding payments, apply payments received
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for management
- Perform regular bank runs, including making deposits and retrieving documents
- Track and file receipts, invoices, and other financial documents
- Assist with payroll and tax filings as needed (optional based on role scope)
- Work closely with external accountants or auditors as required
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial data
- Any other tasks assigned to by management
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar finance role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks preferred)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information discreetly
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for bank runs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience working in a small-to-medium business or service industry
- Familiarity with Canadian accounting standards
Working Conditions:
- In-office position with standard business hours
- Some local travel required for banking and office errands
- Occasional extended hours during peak financial periods
