The Opportunity: Reporting to the Manager, Athletics, the incumbent is responsible to provide Athletic Therapy services to varsity athletes on behalf of the Athletic Department for varsity competition and post competition rehab primarily during the weekends and evenings. This position serves as the primary Athletic Therapy position in Athletics and encompasses all aspects of player health and safety including concussion and covid testing. In addition, the AT will be responsible for clinic assessment of injuries. The incumbent directs all aspects Athletic Therapy in terms of game day, clinic treatment and health related administration for all athletes in the Athletics department. The incumbent ensures all health care records for varsity athletes are accurately maintained and safely stored in accordance with college policies and procedures. In conjunction with the Manager of Athletes, the Athletic Therapist will have significant input into when athletes can return to play post – injury. Finally, the incumbent will act as the primary health care provider for visiting varsity teams that travel to Sault Ste. Marie without their own AT.
What you need to be successful:
- degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field with an Athletic Therapy Certification
- required certificates in:
- Concussion Practitioner Certification
- First Aid
- BLS Health Care Provider
- minimum two years’ practical experience in a post-secondary athletic department setting working as an Athletic Therapist
- experience working within the guidelines of OCAA and ACHA regulations and procedures
- excellent customer service skills
- excellent organizational skills
- strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
