We are ready to take this game to the next level and need someone passionate to define, evolve, and govern the enterprise data and AI architecture to accelerate the organization’s use of artificial intelligence and data‑driven innovation. This role designs scalable data and AI ecosystems including data models, pipelines, metadata and model lifecycle management, and architecture patterns that support analytics and AI/ML solutions. The Data Architect Director works with business leaders, data stewards, product managers, and delivery teams to ensure data and AI assets are high‑quality, trusted, and ready for strategic use. Through technical guidance and thought leadership, the role helps the organization responsibly apply AI, strengthen decision‑making, improve efficiency, and achieve outcomes like better data quality, increased automation, stronger compliance, and effective AI operationalization.
YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME
Reporting to the VP Enterprise Data & Analytics, you will be empowered to:
- Develop enterprise-wide data architecture and processes, leading the design and evolution of data strategies aligned with business and enterprise needs.
- Build and maintain data architecture roadmaps that reflect organizational goals, emerging technologies, and best practices while avoiding vendor lock‑in. Influences stakeholders to support data strategies that improve analytics, governance, and operational efficiency.
- Prepare business cases for data initiatives, including cost/benefit analysis, data quality improvements, compliance risk mitigation, and AI/ML readiness to guide prioritization and funding.
- Establish and enforce enterprise data strategies, policies, standards, and practices to ensure data quality, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance, aligning with frameworks such as DAMA‑DMBOK, DCAM, and FAIR.
- Lead the planning and implementation of innovative data solutions like lakehouse architectures, real‑time pipelines, metadata management, and AI/ML‑enabling frameworks, while partnering with analytics, architecture, and governance teams to ensure data is discoverable, trusted, and accessible.
- Lead major data transformation efforts by identifying and prioritizing capability improvements, applying frameworks like TOGAF and DAMA‑DMBOK, shaping enterprise data strategies, defining supporting policies and standards, selecting enabling tools, assessing data‑related risks, and designing solutions that balance compliance, quality, security, and business agility. Also develops custom data models and architectures for complex or unique business scenarios that support analytics, AI/ML, and digital transformation.
- Coach and support team members by assigning work based on skills and goals, monitoring quality, offering practical guidance, helping them navigate ambiguity, and connecting them with the right resources. Provides ongoing learning and development support to build capability across the team.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE GAME
Education & Experience:
- Post-secondary degree in information technology, computer science, data science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in data engineering or related roles within technology or data-focused functions.
- Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in data architecture, enterprise data management, or a closely related discipline, with a strong track record of designing and implementing enterprise-scale data solutions
Relevant Skills:
- Strong grounding in data strategy and governance, including data modeling, metadata management, master and reference data, data quality, and full data lifecycle practices. Experienced with enterprise data architecture across warehouses, lakes, lakehouses, data mesh, data fabric, and cloud‑native platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
- Skilled in solution design for modern data ecosystems, including APIs, ETL/ELT integration, streaming, pipelines, DevOps for data, cloud and hybrid environments, and security/privacy. Proficient with tools like ER/Studio, Erwin, dbt, Sparx EA, and ArchiMate, and familiar with methodologies such as TOGAF, DAMA‑DMBOK, DCAM, and FAIR.
- Strong business and strategic capability, including understanding of business models, data monetization, cost‑benefit analysis, budgeting, risk management, and aligning data strategies and roadmaps to organizational goals. Experienced in requirements analysis, logical and physical modeling, enterprise platforms, and solution architecture.
- Comfortable with product and project delivery practices like Agile, Scrum, and SDLC. Experienced in developing documentation, providing strategic recommendations, evaluating vendor solutions, and running PoCs to assess fit‑for‑purpose data technologies.
- Experience designing and implementing data architectures, including data platforms, integration strategies, and governance frameworks in complex environments. Collaborates closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and cross‑functional teams to define roadmaps, architecture patterns, and scalable data solutions.
- Background in lottery and gaming organizations or similar sectors is an asset, with an understanding of the related business capabilities and the technology solutions that support them.
