PUC Services Inc. operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the supply and delivery of electricity and drinking water, and energy services and the treatment of water and wastewater.
PUC offers a dynamic, challenging and rewarding work environment that encourages collaboration and innovative thinking. We are seeking a new member to join our Project Management Team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, innovative, demonstrating strong technical knowledge, and an innate desire to learn and grow.
As the Project Manager, your duties will include:
- Develop and implement comprehensive project management plans, including objectives, deliverables, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Monitor and control project progress, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies in collaboration with project teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Participate in design reviews, procurement processes, tender preparation, bid evaluations, contract awards, and quality management throughout project execution and close-out.
- Establish and promote project control best practices, including scheduling, estimating, cost control, design coordination, risk management, and progress reporting.
- Obtain necessary approvals and ensure all work is coordinated with applicable authorities and complies with regulatory and safety requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for consultants, internal staff, and regulatory agencies during project planning, design, and permitting phases.
- Develop and analyze project budgets and schedules, investigating and reporting on variances or performance issues.
- Lead project meetings, prepare progress reports, and conduct site visits as required to monitor field execution.
- Review existing project management processes to identify opportunities for improvement, streamlining workflows through automation and technology where possible.
- Conduct resource and risk management activities to minimize project disruptions and ensure efficient allocation of personnel and materials.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent certification (or progress toward completion) considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project management within the utility, municipal, or infrastructure sectors, with a focus on power and/or water systems.
- Strong understanding of project delivery processes, asset management practices and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to develop and implement process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
- Understanding with legislation, codes, and standards related to electricity and water considered an asset.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), as well as experience with project management software tools such as Microsoft Project or equivalent.
- Must hold and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to changing priorities.
