Sault Area Hospital invites applications for a Urologist to join a well-established, collegial group of Urologists practicing General Urology.

As a urologist practicing at Sault Area Hospital, you will have the opportunity to provide a full range of care including open surgery, endourology, incontinence & laparoscopy. You will have access to an extensive array of urological equipment including:

• Six fully integrated modern operating room suites with HD video & laparoscopy equipment
• High definition laparoscopic towers & telescopes
• Holmium Laser, Greenlight XPS, Lithoclast lithotripter
• Use of dedicated urology outpatient procedure clinic

Procedures performed include:
• Nephrectomy
• Percutaneous nephrolithotomy
• Prostatectomy

We are currently exploring a cross-border partnership to provide access to robotic surgery using the
da Vinci system.

Sault Area Hospital (SAH) is a state-of-the-art facility opened in 2011. With approval for 291 inpatient beds and 14 Intensivist led ICU beds, SAH provides emergency, primary, secondary, selected tertiary and long-term care healthcare services to the city and the District of Algoma with a catchment population of approximately 115,000. Programs include the Algoma District Cancer Program and a Regional Renal Program. Full diagnostic support includes state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla MRI and two CT Scanners.

Candidates must possess or be able to obtain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Ontario with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and must hold or be eligible for fellowship in Urology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Subspecialty training or experience in an area of interest would be an asset, but will not be required. There is flexibility with the starting date.

Affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) provides the opportunity to teach residents and medical students.

This position is eligible the Ontario Ministry of Health incentive offered through the Northern and Rural Recruitment & Retention Initiative, the Northern Specialist APP as well as the community incentive of a relocation allowance. Remuneration is fee-for-service and HOCC stipend.
