The Sault Community Career Centre (SCCC) is seeking a Francophone Employment Navigator to support job seekers through person‑centred employment and navigation services as part of our Naviguer vers l’emploi (NVE) program.

JOB SUMMARY
The Employment Navigator is a frontline Francophone resource within the Navigating to Employment project. This role provides person-centred employment counselling, including assessments, action plans, coaching, and case management for Francophone job seekers.
The Navigator coordinates referrals to training, employment, wraparound community services, and engages employers and service partners to ensure an active offer of French-language services. All supports reflect the linguistic and cultural realities of Ontario’s Francophone communities.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Case Management, Support and Advocacy
- Conduct assessments to identify clients’ skills, interests, barriers, and employment readiness.
- Develop individualized employment action plans with clear short and long-term goals.
- Provide ongoing coaching, follow-up, and responsive support based on client needs.
- Coordinate referrals to training employment programs and community supports.
- Advocate for clients and collaborate with team members and partners to support complex needs.
- Maintain current knowledge base of the local labour market to inform coaching, planning and referrals.
- Ensure all tools, resources, and interactions reflect Francophone cultural and linguistic realities.
Employer and Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with employers, Francophone organizations, and community partners.
- Facilitate connections between clients and employment opportunities.
- Promote and uphold an active offer of French‑language services across all interactions.
Administration and Data Management
- Maintain and update client case notes, case management plans and database systems.
- Organize and file documents according to established processes and file format standards.
- Schedule appointments and manage administrative tasks efficiently.
- Participate in data system training and follow privacy, security, and confidentiality standards.
- Utilize digital platforms (Outlook, Teams, and shared calendars) to support timely communication.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Experience in counselling techniques, conducting needs assessments, and supporting individuals with complex needs, including mental health and disability-related barriers.
- Confident in building relationships with diverse stakeholders, including employers.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
- Proficiency in French and English, both oral and written, is required; additional languages an asset
- Strong communication skills, including active listening, professional writing, and persuasive messaging.
- Skilled in Motivational Interviewing and de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to provide trauma-informed, culturally appropriate support.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, solutions-focused team.
- Able to design and facilitate workshops and orientation sessions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Workspace and Adobe Reader, able to learn new platforms quickly.
OTHER
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours when required.
