Communication Technologist

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Communications Technologist to support the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of telecommunications and electronic communication systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring reliable communication infrastructure for our commercial and community clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, implementation, testing, and optimization of telecommunications and electronic communication systems, including wired and wireless networks.
  • Conduct daily inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of two-way radio systems and other communication systems used for operational purposes.
  • Set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose and analyze the performance of communication and electronic systems.
  • Perform system diagnostics, signal testing, and performance analysis to ensure reliable operation of communication systems.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain electronic security alarm and monitoring systems, including sensors, control panels, and communication interfaces.
  • Install, operate, and maintain VoIP and PBX systems, including associated hardware and cabling.
  • Manage live streaming and audiovisual communication systems and integrate real-time alert systems for monitoring purposes.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and system upgrades to improve system performance, reliability, and capacity.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including cable diagrams, schematics, maintenance records, and system reports.
  • Calibrate and verify communication and electronic equipment according to technical manuals and written instructions.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Telecommunications Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with telecommunications, radio systems, networking equipment, and electronic systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
