As the Manager, Environmental Operations, your duties will include:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Environmental Operations team to ensure high performance, accountability, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental best practices.
- Oversee daily wastewater operations, including treatment, monitoring, and discharge activities, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Ensure operational and maintenance procedures meet all legislative, regulatory, contractual, and manufacturer requirements.
- Manage the preparation, maintenance, and submission of regulatory documentation, while supporting the development and improvement of internal compliance processes.
- Conduct and oversee audits, inspections, and preventive maintenance reviews to verify consistency with standards and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams on planning, development, and optimization of wastewater systems.
- Contribute to long-term environmental strategy and planning.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, government inspectors, consultants, industry partners, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and positive outcomes.
- Prepare and analyze environmental reports, performance updates, and recommendations.
- Support operational administration, strategic initiatives, and opportunities for business growth.
- Develop, manage, and maintain budgets to support strategic and operational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering, preferably with a professional designation, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive management experience in wastewater or water treatment operations.
- A valid Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate appropriate for the level of the facilities, maintained in good standing.
- Strong knowledge of applicable legislation, codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment operations, maintenance, and administration.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, along with strong communication and team collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- A valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license, maintained in good standing.
- Availability to participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies on a pre-scheduled basis.
