The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre’s Acorn Information Solutions department is seeking a Junior Web Application Developer to support SSMIC’s Acorn division development team. This is a permanent position.

The key responsibilities of the Junior Web Application Developer position include:

The Junior Web Application Developer, under the supervision of the ACORN Manager of Software Development and assigned project managers will assist in designing, developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining numerous software solutions.

• Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Requirements Definition/Analysis, Software Design, Coding, Quality Assurance, Code Maintenance, and Deployment on internal projects
• The candidate will be working with other developers building business/manufacturing applications, web-based apps, web services, etc. using Microsoft framework with SQL database and HTML
• Successful candidate MUST have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Write technical documentation for projects
• Self-starter, well organized, able to balance multiple priorities, ability to work with people and a strong desire to expand knowledge
• Technologies that will be immediately used are Microsoft Framework, Angular and SQL Server database fundamentals
• Understand and follow development standards
• Provide programming services to interface with existing systems
• Meet with the project team regularly (Daily stand-ups) and review project status
• Must understand and follow development standards and utilize DevOps
• Regularly commit code to source control software
• Develop software based on functional and technical specifications

• Must have a minimum 3-year degree or 2-year diploma in Information Technology
• Experience in C#.Net, MS SQL Server DB, HTML and CSS
• Familiarity with JavaScript, JQuery and other Frameworks such as Angular, Node.js and React
• Knowledge of LINQ, Razor
• Knowledge of Bootstrap, other front-end libraries
• Database fundamentals
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Visual Studio, other IDEs
• Knowledge of NuGet package manager
• Knowledge of Team Foundation Server
• Understanding of W3C Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
• Ability to use Version Control (GIT, GitHub, Bitbucket)
• Knowledge of mobile applications would be an added advantage
• Related work experience will be an asset
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle (multiple styles preferable)
• Knowledge of SCRUM
• Excellent analytical / trouble shooting skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of database stored procedures
• Ability to write clear project documentation
• Solid understanding of IT systems, software, and processes
• Ability to interpret ER diagrams
