The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre’s Acorn Information Solutions department is seeking an Intermediate Web Application Developer to support SSMIC’s Acorn division development team. This is a permanent position.

The key responsibilities of the Intermediate Web Application Developer position include:

The Intermediate Web Application Developer, under the supervision of the ACORN Manager of Software Development and assigned project managers will assist in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining numerous software solutions. The Intermediate Web Application Developer will also provide guidance and assistance to Junior Developers.

• Requirements Definition/Analysis, Software Design, Coding, Quality Assurance, Code Maintenance, and Deployment on internal/external projects
• Successful candidate MUST have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter, well organized, able to balance multiple priorities, ability to work with people and a strong desire to expand knowledge
• Must possess effective technical documentation skills
• Experience with .NET and Core frameworks
• Technologies that will be immediately used are C#, Angular and SQL Server database fundamentals
• Must understand and follow development standards and utilize DevOps
• Regularly commit code to source control software
• Provide analytical and design expertise
• Meet with the project team regularly (Daily stand-ups) and review project status
• Must possess the ability to mentor junior staff and delegate tasks where necessary
• Develop software based on functional and technical specifications
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive design patterns are utilized
• Ensure Web Accessibility Guidelines are followed
• Keep up to date with current technologies and trends
• Ability to learn new technology quickly

• Must have a minimum 3-year degree or 2-year diploma in Information Technology
• Minimum of 3 years of development experience
• Proficient in C#.Net, MS SQL Server DB, JavaScript, CSS and HTML
• Experience with JavaScript, JQuery and other Frameworks such as Angular, Node.js and React
• Experience with LINQ, Razor
• Experience with Bootstrap, other front-end libraries
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Visual Studio, other IDEs
• Experience with NuGet package manager
• Experience with Team Foundation Server
• Understanding of W3C Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
• Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies
• Experience with SCRUM
• Excellent analytical / trouble shooting skills
• Solid understanding of IT systems, web architecture and software or processes
• Must have experience with source code control software such as GIT, GitHub, Bitbucket
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of data structure fundamentals
• Strong database, stored procedure knowledge
• Ability to create and interpret ER diagrams
