Guide a variety of clients on business planning and management.
Research new opportunities and resources for small business.
Build relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Provide input on annual plan for program and services offered through Millworks.
Evaluate clients’ business plans and provide analysis, support and counselling.
Assist clients in obtaining access to government services and support; working with the client in developing plans and applications to government programs or private sector sources.
Coordinate and deliver seminars and workshops to train and inform current/potential clients on business operations (e.g. marketing, financial accounting, operations) in support of program and services.
Coordinate the development of business information and opportunity packages; maintain reference and resource materials for clients (information kiosks).
Develop and coordinate a mentorship program for clients.
Initiate and engage client prospects and execute opportunities to a successful close.
Participate and represent the Corporation on various work groups, committees and events.
Provide advice and support to various levels of staff on shared economic development issues.
Maintain client information in the corporate client relationship management system (CRM).
Report annual/quarterly/monthly results and outcomes consistent with annual business plans and program requirements.
Provide support to the Manager, Enterprise Services/Millworks, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
College Diploma in a related field; e.g. Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, etc.
University degree in a related field; e.g. Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, etc., is an asset.
Two years’ counselling businesses on various aspects of starting/growing a business.
Understanding of business and the regional economy.
Strategic and critical thinking skills
Possess strong analytical skills, including the ability to think strategically and creatively.
Strong team player with ability to take initiative.
Excellent research skills.
Organize time and tasks successfully, meet deadlines, and ensure accuracy, in a fast paced environment.
Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, and responsible manner
Computer literacy in Microsoft including experience in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
Experience in a not-for-profit and/or a municipal environment, is an asset.
